The Influence of Testosterone on the Motility of the Uterus and the Sexual Cycle of Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The author studied the influence of testosterone on the motility of the uterus and the sexual cycle of rats and obtained the following results
1. The spontaneous movements of the isolated uteri of nonpregnant and pregnant rats were inhibited by testosterone. However testosterone slightly accelerated the movements of the uterus excised immediately before and after delivery.
2. The oxytocic action of acetylcholine, oxytocin, and ergoklin was diminished in rats previously treated with testosterone.
3. The estrus of rats was suppressed by the repeated administration of testosterone.
4. The repeated administration of testosterone during pregnancy caused the interruption of the pregnancy in rats.
